The sky is the limit with a custom design
My baby quilts are carefully designed and constructed to reflect the best of traditional whole cloth couture quilting. If you wish, though, I can and will create almost any quilt you can imagine. Naturally, custom quilts require extensive consultation, careful consideration of the many options available and additional construction time. Custom fabrics
The Kona cotton I use is available in a rainbow of colors. In addition to the strict traditional snow white and antique bone, you might select a soft pink or blue or other color with significance for you. In addition, a myriad of patterned fabrics are also available, many of which can be made into beautiful quilts. Finally, if you have a treasured but aging family tablecloth, bedsheet, pillow case or dress I may be able to use the fabric from your heirloom to give your quilt even more significance and inner beauty.
Custom batting
If you prefer, I can use one of the following battings in place of the standard organic cotton.
Wool - This batting provides superb heat retention and adds lightweight warmth to the quilt.
Silk - Silk batting provides good warmth in an extremely light and airy quilt.
Bamboo - This unique batting, made of 50% antibacterial bamboo fibers and 50% organic cotton, compares well to silk at a lower cost.
Dream Angel - This flame retardant batting will not melt or flow in contact with flames. It contains no chemicals, and the flame retardant properties will not wash out.
Custom designs
Almost any design can be quilted. If you have a family crest, a preferred china pattern, a date or name of significance or any design that has meaning to you I can usually work that design into your quilt. Some custom designs can act as the centerpiece of the quilt. Others can appear in subtle and small ways only noticeable if you know they are present. I will work with you to ensure that your quilt design has meaning and significance for you.
